How many and what are the Fard of Hajj?

Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is How many and what are the Fard of Hajj and how many and what are the Wajib of Hajj?

How many and what are the Fard of Hajj?

4 Fards of Hajj:-

(1) Barrier of Ihram

(2) Staying at Arafa Maidan

(3) Performing Tawaf Ifazah

(4) To do safa-marwa sai.

1. Ihram and Hajj intention

A person who does not intend to perform Hajj will not perform Hajj. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Verily, actions are dependent on intentions.” And to each one will be what he decides.

Bukhari: 1

2. Uquf Arafa or position in Arafa

Hajj Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Ibrahim A. imitated its ideals. He told the Muslims about the polytheists, our ideals are different from their ideals. So he took the Muslims to the plain of Arafah and opposed the Quraish in this too. Because the Quraysh did not cross Muzdalifah; Rather, he would stay in Muzdalifah and say, We will not depart from any other place than the Haram area. It should be noted that Arafah is outside the boundaries of Haram.

Bayhaqi, As-Sunanul Kubra: 5/125

The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, Hajj is Arafat.

Irwaul Galil: 4/256.

3. Tawaf Ifazah or Tawaf Ziyara (Mandatory Tawaf of Baitullah)

Allah Ta’ala says, And let them perform Tawaf of the ancient house.

Hajj: 29

Safia Ra. When menstruating, the Prophet (PBUH) said, will he stop us? Ayesha. He said, O Messenger of Allah, he has performed Tawaf of Ifazah, that is, Baytullah. After completing Tawaf Ifazah, she menstruates. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Then set out now.”

Bukhari: 428.

From this, it can be understood that Tawaf is obligatory.

4. Doing Safa and Marwa Sai

According to most of the Companions, Tabees, and Imams, it is fard. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Do Sa’i, because Allah has made Sa’i obligatory upon you.”

Musnad Ahmad: 421.

Ayesha. Said, my life! Allah will never complete the Hajj of a person who does not perform Sa’i between Safa and Marwa.

Muslim: 928.

Remember, a person who omits any one of the obligations will not perform Hajj.

How many and what are the Wajib of Hajj?

7 Wajib of Hajj:-

(1) Ihram is prohibited from Meekat

(2) Staying at Arafa Maidan till sunset

(3) Overnight in Muzdalifah

(4) Spending the nights of Tashreek in Ayyam in Mina

(5) Throwing pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqaba on 10th and at three Jamras on 11th, 12th, 13th.

(6) Shaving the head or cutting all the head hair short

(7) Farewell Tawaf.

1. Ihram is tied from Meekat

That is, Ihram is tied before crossing the Meekat.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while determining the Meeqaats, said, These are for them and also for those who come that way from other places to perform Hajj and Umrah.

Bukhari: 1524; Muslim: 1181.

2. Stay at Arafa till sunset

It is wajib on the person who performs Uquf during the day at the Maidan of Arafa, to stay at Arafa until sunset. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, performed the Uquf during the day at the Maidan of Arafah and stayed there until sunset. Miswar Ibn Makhrama RA. The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace while speaking to us at Arafa, said, “The polytheists and the idolaters used to leave here at sunset, when the sun was like a turban on a man’s head on the top of a mountain.” So our ideology is different from their ideology.

Bayhaqi, As-Sunanul Kubra: 5/125.

So the Prophet’s departure from Arafa after sunset was aimed at creating a contrast with the practices of the polytheists.

3. Overnight in Muzdalifah

A. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, spent the night in Muzdalifah and said, “Let my Ummah learn the rules of Hajj.” Because I don’t know, maybe I won’t meet them again after this year.

b. He allowed the weak to exit Muzdalifah after half the night. From this, it can be understood that spending the night in Muzdalifah is obligatory because permission is required only when the matter demands importance.

c. Allah Ta’ala has ordered His Zikr to Mash’are Haram. Allah says:

So when you come out of ‘Arafah, remember Allah near Mash’are Haram.

Baccarat: 198.

4. The nights of Tashreek are spent in Mina

The 10th day night and the 11th day night should be spent in Mina. If the sun sets on the 12th while it is in Mina, then the night before the 12th should also be spent in Mina. On the 13th, you will have to break the stone and then leave Mina.

Ayesha. He said, The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, returned to Mina after performing the Zuhr prayer at Masjid al-Haram and performing the Tawaf pilgrimage and spent the nights of Tashreek in Mina.

Abu Dawud: 1683.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, permitted the nights of the minaret to be spent in Makkah to make the pilgrims drink the water of the Zamzam, and allowed the caretakers of the camels to spend the night outside the minaret. It is evident from this permission that it is wajib to live in Mina during the nights of Mina.

5. Throwing pebbles at Jamra

Throwing pebbles at 10 Zilhaj Jamrat al-Aqaba (Big Jamrah). The days of Tashreek are the 11th, and 12th, and for those who will be in Mina on the 13th, throw pebbles in small, middle, and large Jamra respectively on the 13th. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, threw a pebble in Jamra like this.

Jaber Ra. He said, I saw the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, on the day of sacrifice, sitting on his vehicle throwing stones and saying, Know the rules of your Hajj. Because I don’t know, maybe I won’t be able to do Hajj again after my Hajj.

Muslim: 1297; Abu Dawood: 1970.

6. Shaving the head or cutting the hair short

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded him to shave his head or cut his hair short, saying that he should cut his hair short and become halal.

Bukhari: 1691; Muslim: 1227.

And he prayed for forgiveness three times for those who shave their heads and once for those who cut their hair short.

7. Farewell Tawaf

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered the farewell Tawaf, saying that no one should go until he meets the Baitullah for the last time.

Muslim: 2350.

Ibn Abbas RA. He said people have been instructed that their last act should be to visit Baitullah. But he made concessions for menstruating women.

Muslim: 2351.

It should be noted that whoever leaves even one of these, Dum Wajib will be upon him i.e. an animal will have to be sacrificed.

Ibn Abbas RA. He said, “Whoever forgets or omits any of his Hajj should sacrifice an animal.”

Muatta Malek : 890; Darakutni : 2/244.
