Sunnah of Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha in Islam

Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, Today’s topic of discussion is what are the Sunnah acts of Eid day, how many Sunnah acts of Eid day, Sunnah of Eidul Adha, Sunnah of Eidul Fitr day, Acts of Eidul Fitr day.

1. Recitation of Takbeer

On the two Eid nights, it is better for Muslims to recite Takbeer in the mosque, at home, and on the road, whether on a journey or at home. The word of Allah Almighty,

And describe the greatness of Allah for what He has guided you.

Surah Baqarah 185

Beginning of Eid ul Fitr Takbeer

The Takbeer will be recited from the night of Eid-ul-Fitr i.e. after the moon sighting of the month of Shawwal or the sunset of the 30th of Ramadan; This is the Shafi’i and Hanbali schools of thought; The opinion of Imam Baghvi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Baz, and Ibn Uthaymeen is the same; And the Standing Committee on Fatwa also gave this fatwa.

End of Eid-ul-Fitr Takbeer

A difference of opinion has been observed among the Ulama in this regard:

1st opinion – When the imam appears for the Eid prayer, the recitation of the Takbeer must be stopped; An opinion narrated by Maleki, Hanbali, and Shafi’i school is also like this; Imam Baghvi and Ibn Uthaymeen preferred this view.

2nd opinion – The Takbeer will end with the end of Eid khutba; This is according to the Hanbali madhhab; Some Shafi’i, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn Baz are also of this opinion.

Ruling on fixing the Takbeer of Eid-ul-Fitr after the prayer

The recitation of Takbeer is not limited to the moments after the Maghrib and Isha prayers on the night of Eid and the moments after Eid prayers. This is the Hanbali school of thought. This is the correct fatwa according to most Shafi’i scholars. Imam Nawabi, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Uthaymeen. He accepted it.

Eid al-Azha Takbeer

From 9 Zil Hajj Fajr to 13 Zil Hajj Asr, after a total of 23 obligatory prayers, it is wajib to say Tashreek once in Takbeer ie – ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahil Hamd’. Those who are not performing Hajj will read Takbeer according to this rule. And those who are performing Hajj will start Takbeer from the Fajr prayer on the day of Eid. Because before that they will be busy reading Talbiya.

Words of Eid Takbeer

Two views have been observed in this regard.

First, it is better to read the following words –

God is great, God is great, there is no god but God, God is great, God is great, praise be to God

Pronunciation: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, Wa Lillahil Hamd.

Meaning: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, There is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, All praise is due to Allah.

Allahu Akbar will say the word twice, as is the practice of the Hanbali Madhhab. Ibn Taymiyyah. He accepted it. Or say three times. Basically, all are valid and good methods. These are Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen. its opinion.

According to the second opinion, there is no prescribed word for reciting the Takbeer on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr; Instead, he will continue to proclaim the greatness of Allah in the usual way. Allah says, that you may complete the reckoning and describe the greatness of Allah for guiding you, that you may be grateful.

Surah Baqarah – 185

Imam Ahmad and Malek Rah. Who accepted this view?

Provision of loud and slow takbeer

It is Sunnah for men to say Takbeer out loud after leaving the house for Eidgah. This is the opinion of most of the scholars of Maleki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali Majhab. This is a likeness of Imam Abu Hanifa, Muhammad, like Abu Yusuf and Imam Tahawi. Liked it.

Ruling on giving collective takbeer

Reciting collective Takbeer is innovation. Maleki Gana clearly described it. And it is sweet. like this So is the fatwa of the Standing Committee on Fatwas. Sheikh Ibn Baz, Albani, and Ibn Uthaymeen. Agreed with them.

2. Bathing and grooming

Imam Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him) brought a hadith on the authority of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) in the chapter on Eid and decorating it, he said, Umar took a well-made silk robe that was being sold in the market, then came to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) with it. Then he said, O Messenger of Allah. S. Buy it and you will be dressed for Eid and for the delegations.

Ibn Qudama said this proves that it was customary for them to be decorated in all these respects. And Ibn Umar used to wear his most beautiful clothes on Eid. The Imam Malek RA said, I heard from the scholars that they like to be perfumed and decorated on every Eid, and it was mentioned about bathing that Ibn Umar RA used to take a bath every Eid-ul-Fitr before going to the Eidgah.

3. Use perfume

According to the consensus of the four schools of Hanafi, Maleki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali, it is Sunnah for men to use perfume before going out to the Eidgah.

4. About taking food on Eid day

A. Anas bin Malik said:

The Prophet did not go out on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr until he had eaten some dates.

Bukhari taw, ha 953, Muslim, Mishkat ha. Ha 1433

b. On the authority of Buraydah, he said,

The Prophet (PBUH) did not go out without eating on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr (Eidgah) and on the day of Eid-ul-Adha, he did not eat or drink until the sacrifice was made.

Ahmad, Masha, Ha/22984, Tirmidhi Magr, Ha/542

Therefore, this proves that he always used to eat something before the prayer on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr and delayed eating and drinking until the sacrifice on the day of Eid-ul-Azhar. So that on that day first of all eat the meat of Qurbani.

5. Walking in the morning

The Muqtadis are circumcised for this, to leave for the Eidgah immediately after Fajr (without delay). As Shafi’i and Hanbali clearly stated.

6. Delaying the Imam until the Waqt

It is Mustahabb or better for the imam to leave late until the time of the Eid prayer so that he can lead the people in the Eid prayer. Shafi’i, the Hanbalis have said it clearly. And Imam Malek also expressed this opinion clearly.

7. Women to go to the place of Eid prayer

On the authority of Umm Atiyah on the authority of women going to the Eidgah, she said, The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered us to take out the young, unmarried, and veiled (at home) women (for prayer at the Eidgah) on Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, then the menstruating women should abstain from the prayer. And will appear in the welfare and prayers of Muslims.

Bukhari taw, ha/981 and Muslim

8. Walking to Eidgah

Three Marfu hadiths about walking to the Eidgah are narrated by the Prophet, But all of them are weak hadiths; As Hafiz Ibn Hajar said. And a quote from Ali RA has been mentioned? The Sunnah is to walk on Eid. Imam Tirmizi said, most of the scholars have actions on this hadith; They consider it mustahabb to walk to the Eidgah and eat something before leaving (for the Eidgah on Eidul Fitr).

9. Eid greetings

On the authority of Zubair bin Nufayr, he said,

When the companions of Rasulullah SAW met each other on the day of Eid, they used to say to each other; Takabbalallahu Minna Wa Mika means may Allah accept (good deeds) from us and you.

It is necessary to know that it is Bid’ah to make a hug, that is to say, after the Eid prayer; Because it is not proven by the Prophet or his companions.

10. Changing the travel route to the Eid prayer place

Narrated by Jabir:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to change his (traveling) route on the day of Eid (going to the Eidgah by one route and returning home by another route).

Bukhari taw, ha/986, Mishkat haa. Ha/1434

11. visit the grave

It is a newly discovered innovation to specify the grave pilgrimage only with the Eid day; Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Baz, Albani, and Ibn Uthaymeen. provided that; And the Standing Committee on Fatwa also issued a fatwa accordingly.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us Tawfeek to understand things correctly and to act. Allahumma Amen.
