اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبَّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبَّ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَالِقَ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوٰى مُنْزِلَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيْلِ وَالْقُرْاٰنِ أعوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ ذِىْ شَرٍّ أَنْتَ اٰخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِه أَنْتَ الْأَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الْاٰخِرُ فَلَيْسَ بَعْدَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الْبَاطِنُ فَلَيْسَ دُونَكَ شَىْءٌ اقْضِ عَنِّى الدَّيْنَ وَاغْنِنِىْ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ

He who is the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, the Lord of all things, the one who sows the grain and the date palm; The Revealer of the Torah, the Injeel, and the Qur’an, I seek refuge in You from the evil of every evildoer that is in Your power. You are the first – there was no one before you. You are the last – there will be no one after you. And You are manifest – there is nothing more manifest than You. You are secretive – there is nothing more secretive than you. You free me from debt and save me from poverty [give prosperity]).

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ وَالْمَأْثَمِ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ وَفِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنٰى وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْسِلْ خَطَايَاىَ بِمَاءِ الثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّ قَلْبِىْ كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَبَاعِدْ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَاىَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from laziness, old age, debt, and sin. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the fire of Hell, the trial of Hell, the prosecution and punishment of the grave, the weakness of the test of wealth and the weakness of the test of poverty, and the evil of the test of Masihud (Kana) Dajjal. O Allah! You wash away my sins with ice and rock water. Cleanse my heart as a white cloth is cleansed from dirt and make a gap between me and my sins as you put between east and west.

Hadith No. 1

وَعَنْ عَلِىٍّ: أَنَّه جَاءَه مُكَاتَبٌ فَقَالَ: إِنِّىْ عَجَزْتُ عَنْ كِتَابَتِىْ فَأَعِنِّىْ قَالَ: أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ عَلَّمَنِيهِنَّ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ ﷺ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ مِثْلُ جَبَلٍ كَبِيرٍ دَيْنًا أَدَّاهُ اللّٰهُ عَنْكَ. قُلْ: اَللّٰهُمَّ اكْفِنِىْ بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِىْ بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِىُّ وَالْبَيْهَقِىُّ فِى الدَّعَوَاتِ الْكَبِيرِ وَسَنَذْكُرُ حَدِيثَ جَابِرٍ: إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نُبَاحَ الْكِلَابِ» فِىْ بَابِ تَغْطِيَةِ الْأَوَانِىْ إِن شَآءَ الله تَعَالٰى

Narrated Ali (RA):

He said, one day a Muqatab (indentured servant) came to him and said, I am unable to pay the price of my Qitabat (written contract of wealth with the Munib), help me. He [‘Ali (RA)] said in reply, Shall I teach you some of the Kalam (sentences) which the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, taught me? (Through these two things) if you are burdened with a mountain of debt, Allah will pay it off. You will read, “All-hummakfini bihala-lika ‘an hara-mika, wa agnini bifazlika ‘amman siwak” ie – O Allah! Save me from the unlawful with the help of the halal [things] and save me from the hereafter by your mercy.

Quality of hadith: Hasan hadith

Hadith No. 2

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحُزْنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ». (مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ)

Narrated Anas (RA):

He said, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to say: “All-Humma Inni a’Uzubiqa Minal Hammi wal huzni wal ‘Azzi wal Kasali wal Jubni wal Bukhli, wa Jala’id Dayni wa galabatir Riza-l” means – O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety, grief, incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, debt burden, and human coercion.

Quality of Hadith: Sahih Hadith

Hadith No. 3

وَعَنْ أَبِىْ هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ ﷺ أَنَّه كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا أَوٰى إِلٰى فِرَاشِه: «اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبَّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبَّ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَالِقَ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوٰى مُنْزِلَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيْلِ وَالْقُرْاٰنِ أعوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ ذِىْ شَرٍّ أَنْتَ اٰخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِه أَنْتَ الْأَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الْاٰخِرُ فَلَيْسَ بَعْدَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَىْءٌ وَأَنْتَ الْبَاطِنُ فَلَيْسَ دُونَكَ شَىْءٌ اقْضِ عَنِّى الدَّيْنَ وَاغْنِنِىْ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالتِّرْمِذِىُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ مَعَ اخْتِلَافٍ يَسِيْرٍ

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA):

He narrates from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he (may God bless him and grant him peace) used to say while sleeping in bed, “All-Humma Rabbas Sama-wa-ti wa Rabbal Arzi wa Rabba Kulli Shayin, Falikal Habbi Wan Nawa- Munzilat Taura-ti, Wall Bible Wall Qur’an. A’uzubika min sharri kulli ji sharri. Anta a-khiyun bina-siyatihi, antal awwalu, falaysa kablaka shayun, wa antal a-khiru, falaysa ba’daka shayun, wa antaaz ja-hiru, falaysa faukka shayun. Wa antal ba-twinu, falaysa dunaka shayoun, iqi ‘annidddayna, wa agnini minal fakri”

That is – O Allah! Hadith No. 4

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ وَالْمَأْثَمِ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّىْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ وَفِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنٰى وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْسِلْ خَطَايَاىَ بِمَاءِ الثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّ قَلْبِىْ كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَبَاعِدْ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَاىَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ». (مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ)

Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):

He said: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to say: “All-Humma inni a’Uzubika minal Kasali wal Harami wal Magrami wal Ma’sami, All-Humma inni a’Uzubika min ‘Aza-bin na-ri wa fitnatin na-ri wa wa Fitnatil Kabri ‘Aza-Bil Kabri Wamin Sharri Fitnatil Gina-, Wamin Sharri Fitnatil Faqri Wamin Sharri Fitnatil Masihid Dazza-li, All-Hummagsil Khata-ya-ya Bima-yis Salji Wal Baradi wa Nakki Kalbi Kama- Yunakkas Sawbul Abayazu mi Naddanasi Waba- ‘Id bayani wabayna khatwa-ya-ya kama-ba’adta baynal mashriki wal maghrib’

(meaning – O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness, old age, debt, and sin. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the fire of Hell, the trial of Hell, the prosecution and punishment of the grave, the weakness of the test of affluence and the weakness of the test of poverty, and Masihud (Qana ) I seek refuge from the evil of Dajjal’s test. O Allah! Wash away my sins with ice and rock water. Cleanse my heart as a white cloth is cleansed from dirt and make a gap between me and my sins as the East and You put it in the West.

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ السَّلَفِ الْوَفَاءُ وَالْحَمْدُ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم اسْتَسْلَفَ مِنْهُ حِينَ غَزَا حُنَيْنًا ثَلاَثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ قَضَاهَا إِيَّاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ “‏ بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ السَّلَفِ الْوَفَاءُ وَالْحَمْدُ ‏”‏ ‏.‏

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abu Rabi’ah al-Makhzumi (RA):

The Prophet (peace be upon him) borrowed thirty or forty thousand dirhams from him during the battle of Hunayn. He returned from the war and paid his dues. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: May Allah bless you with your family and wealth. The repayment of the loan is to repay and appreciate it.
