Day of Arafah Fasting Virtues and Dua of the Day of Arafah
Bismillahir Rahmani Rahim, today’s topic of discussion is the deeds of the day of Arafah, the prayers of the day of Arafah, and the virtues of the fast of Arafah.
Virtues of the Day of Arafah
Arafat Day is a dignified day. The ninth day of the month of Zilhaj is called the Day of Arafat. This day has more status than many other auspicious days. Some of the reasons why this day is so important are discussed below:
The completion of Islam, the completion of Allah’s blessings to the Muslim world
Imam Bukhari. According to his own sources, Tariq bin Shihab. narrates that the Jews said to Umar: If you had recited such a verse, if that verse had been revealed to us, we would have celebrated that day as Eid. Omar Ra. Hearing this, he said: I certainly know when it was revealed, where it was revealed, and when it was revealed, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. where were you Yes, that day is the day of Arafah, by Allah! We were in Arafat Field that day. The verse is: Today I have perfected your religion for you and completed My grace upon you and have chosen Islam as your way of life. (Surah Al-Maida: Verse No. 3).
Bukhari, 4606
In the explanation of this verse, Ibn Rajab. Many scholars have said that before this verse was revealed, Muslims did not perform Hajj as an obligation. Therefore, by performing Hajj as a duty, the five foundations of Islam were firmly established in the religion.
Latayful Maaref: Ibn Rajab, p-486
Eid is one of the days
Abu Dawood companion Abu Umama RA. Narrated that Rasulullah s.a.w. Said: The Day of Arafah, the Day of Sacrifice, and Aiyam Tashreek (three days after the Sacrifice) are Eid days for our followers of Islam. And these days are eating and drinking days.
Abu Dawud in Sahih Sunan – 2114
As previously discussed Umar Ra. In the explanation of the narrated hadith Ibn Abbas RA. He said: This verse of Surah Al-Maida was revealed on two days of Eid. They are Friday and the Day of Arafah.
Sahih Sunan Tirmidhi – 2438
From these two hadiths, it is understood that the day of Arafah is considered to be included in the day of Eid.
Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for two years
Companion Abu Qatada RA. It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah and he said: It is taken as expiation for the sins of the past and future years.
Muslim-1163
The day of forgiveness of sins and liberation from hell
Ayesha. Narrated that Rasulullah s.a.w. Said: On the day of Arafah, Allah Rabbul Alamin frees more of His servants from Hellfire than He does on any other day. He approached the servants on this day and boasted about them to the angels and said: Can you tell me what these servants of mine want from me?
Muslim-1348
Imam Nawabi. Said: This hadith is clear proof of the virtues of Arafa Day.
Ibn Abdul Bar said: On this day, the believers are forgiven. Because Allah Rabbul Alamin does not boast about the sinners to the angels. But it is possible only after receiving forgiveness through repentance. It is also mentioned in the hadith:-
Abu Huraira RA. Narrated that the Prophet s.a.w. He said: Verily, Allah Rabbul Alamin is proud of those who stay in Arafat to the inhabitants of heaven. Said: Look at all these servants of mine! They came to me with disheveled hair and dust.
Ahmad and Hakem, the hadith is Sahih
Sunnah of the day of Arafah
fasting
Companion Abu Qatada RA. Narrated by Rasulullah s.a.w. Said: Fasting on the day of Arafah is accepted by Allah Rabbul Alamin as an expiation for the sins of the past and future years.
Muslim – 1163
It should be remembered that only those who are not performing Hajj should fast on the day of Arafah. Those who performed Hajj should not fast on the Day of Arafat.
A person performing Hajj on the day of Arafah will abandon the fast of that day following the example of the Prophet. So that he can be more active in zikr, dua, and other activities during his stay in Arafat.
And on this day all the parts of the body should be kept free from all forbidden and undesirable actions. It is mentioned in the hadith –
Musnad Ahmad Ibn Abbas RA. It is narrated in the hadith that on this day the person who controls his ears and eyes will be forgiven.
Ahmad and Hakem, the hadith is Sahih
It should be remembered that protecting body parts from haram and disliked acts is a requirement of fast as well as a requirement of Hajj. So always be careful about this matter on this day. The orders of Allah and His Messenger (PBUH) must be implemented and the prohibitions must be avoided.
More dhikr and dua
Prophet Karim s. Said:-
The best dua is the dua on the day of Arafah. And the best thing that I say and the Prophets said is: لَا إِلَهَ إِلّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ (La-Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu La-Sharika Lahu, Lahul Mulku wa Lahul Hamdu wa Hua Ala Kulli Shayin Qadir) Meaning: There is no true god but Allah. He alone has no partners. To Him belongs the kingdom and all praise, and He is mighty in all things.
At-Tirmidhi – 2837, Muatta Malek, the hadith is Sahih
Explaining this hadith, Ibn Abdul Bar said: This hadith proves that the supplication on the day of Arafa will definitely be accepted and the best dhikr is La-Ilaha Illallah.
At-Tamhid: Ibn Abdul Bar
Imam Khattabi said: From this hadith, it is understood that while praying, one should praise Allah Rabbul Alamin and declare His greatness.
Reciting Takbeer aloud
It is Sunnah to recite Takbeer from the 1st to the 13th of the month of Zilhajj in order to declare the greatness of Allah Rabbul Alamin. This Takbeer will be recited openly and loudly everywhere including mosques, houses, streets, and markets. But girls will recite in a low-pitched voice. Takbeer is:
لله أكبر الله أكبر لا إله إلا الله، والله أكبر الله أكبر ولله الحمد
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallahu, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahil Hamd.
Regarding this Takbeer of the month of Zilhajj, scholars say: There are generally two ways of performing this Takbeer.
(One) At-Takbeerul Mutlaq or the Takbeer that can be recited at all times
This Takbeer can be recited at any time of the day or night from the beginning of the month of Zilhaj to the 13th of Zilhaj.
Today this Sunnah is considered abandoned in our society. Its action is not seen. So we should promote this Sunnah. This will earn the reward of saying Takbeer and at the same time the reward of reviving a settled Sunnah. It is mentioned in the hadith:-
Rasulullah s.a.w. He said: Whoever revives the sunnah that has died after my death, he will receive the reward of those who practice this sunnah, and the reward of those who practice it will not be reduced in any way.
Tirmidhi-677 and Ibn Majah-209, the hadith is Sahih
Sahabi Abdullah Ibn Umar RA. And Abu Huraira RA. During the first ten days of the month of Zilhaj, he used to go to the bazaar and recite the Takbeer, and the people followed him and recited the Takbeer.
Bukhari, Eid chapter
In other words, these two beloved companions of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) used to remind people about reading Takbeer.
It should be remembered that reciting Takbeer aloud is Sunnah. But not everyone will recite the Takbeer with the Jamaat in the same voice. Because it is heresy. As one said: ‘Allahu Akbar’. All said: ‘Allahu Akbar’. Because Rasulullah s.a.w. Nor did Sahaba Keram ever do that. But everyone can recite Takbeer in different voices at the same time. However, if this form is used to teach someone Takbeer, it is different.
We must be careful that we do not indulge in Bid’ah while observing any Sunnah. Messenger of Allah We have to do the same as his Companions performed the Sunnahs. This is the correct following of the Messenger of Allah. If we introduce a slightly different method while performing that Sunnah, then it will be regarded as Bid’ah. It is mentioned in the hadith –
Rasool Karim s. Said: He who does what is not commanded by Us (Islam) is rejected.
Bukhari-2698, Muslim-1718
(2) At-Takbeerul Muqayyad or Takbeer of special times
That is the Takbeer that is recited after the prayer. This second type of Takbeer which is recited after the prayer is to be recited from the ninth day of the month of Zil-Hajj to the last day of Mina i.e. the 13th.
