What should we do in Ramadan month?

We already know that Ramadan is a month full of special virtues. When we realized the importance of this month, it became our duty to try to make the most of every moment of this month. This month, Al-Quran, the beacon of guidance, has been revealed. When this month arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened. The gates of hell are closed this month. Satan is chained. An announcer calls for good deeds and refrains from bad deeds.

At the same time, it is the month of forgiveness, the month of liberation from hell. This month has Lailatul Qadr which is the best of thousands of months. Many of us think that the month of Ramadan is the month of fasting and performing Taraweeh. Diameter! And what period? I refrain from eating during the day, is it less? No, the matter is not limited to this piece. Ramadan is a huge school.

We are discussing what we can do in Ramadan:

1. Qiyamul Lail:

The word Qiyamul Lail means night prayer i.e. Salatut Taraweeh. Narrated from Abu Hurairah Whoever recites Taraweeh in the month of Ramadan with faith and for the sake of Allah alone, his previous sins are forgiven.

Sahih Muslim 164

2. Completion and recitation of the Quran:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Fasting and the Qur’an will recommend to people on the Day of Resurrection. Ahmad: 628

According to the hadith, in Ramadan, Jibreel used to recite the Qur’an to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite the whole Qur’an to Gabriel. The recitation of the Qur’an is the greatest remembrance. The fasting person cannot be deprived of this dhikr. If one is unable to recite the Qur’an, then one should continue the remembrance of Allah through the recitation of various tasbeehs, tahleel, tahmeed.

3. Charity:

Narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas: He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the most generous in charity, especially in the month of Ramadaan. (There was no limit to his generosity) because, every night till the end of the month of Ramadan, Jibreel (AS) used to meet him and he used to recite the Qur’an to him. When Gabriel (peace be upon him) met him, he was more generous than the wind blowing for good.

Sahih Muslim: (Modern Publication: 4628, Islamic Foundation: 4631)

Imam Shafei Rah. He said that following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a good deed for his ummah, and they should give more in Ramadaan. Because people need more this month.

4. I’tikaf:

Narrated from Aisha (R)He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to perform i’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and say: Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten days of Ramadan. Sahih Bukhari 2020 Regarding i’tikaf, Imam Zuhri said, “Surprisingly, Muslims abandon i’tikaf, whereas the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never abandoned i’tikaf from his arrival in Madinah until his death.”

5. Performing Umrah:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Performing Umrah in the month of Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj with me. Majmaul Kabir: 622, Jamiul Ahadis: 14369

6. Iftar for fasting people:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever breaks the fast of a fasting person (the fasting person) will get the same reward as the fasting person, but the reward of the fasting person will not be deducted in the slightest. Ahmed: 22302

7. Praying:

After describing the rules of fasting, Allah Almighty says:

When My servants ask you about Me, I am near. When the supplicant prays to me, I respond to his prayer.

Surah Al-Baqara: 18

So the fasting person should pray more to Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

The prayers of the three are accepted; The prayers of the fasting person, the prayers of the oppressed, and the prayers of the traveler.

Bayhaqi fee Shuabul Iman: 7205

8. Repent:

It is obligatory to always repent. Especially this month. This month is favorable for repentance. Satan is chained, man is freed from hell. In addition, all the acts of worship in the month of Ramadan create a favorable environment for repentance.

That is why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Says:

The person who could not get his sins forgiven even after the month of Ramadan let his nose turn gray with dust. Jameul Usul: 1410

Therefore, the month of Ramadan should be taken as a month of repentance and forgiveness and should be observed accordingly.

9. Continuing to do good deeds at a higher rate, especially in the last decade of Ramadan:

Narrated from AishaHe said that when the last decade of Ramadan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would take off his lungi (prepare for more and more worship) and stay up at night and wake up his family. Sahih Bukhari 2024

10. Emphasis on acquiring Islamic education:

Islamic education is the root of all education. Apart from that, it is very important to note two things –

One. In order to perform all the acts of worship of Islam properly, one has to acquire Islamic teachings. No excuses are acceptable in this regard. The rules of Salat, the rules of fasting, the rules and regulations of Zakat, the rules of Hajj cannot be fulfilled without learning them.

Two. It is very important to learn and study the commentary of Al-Quran. In particular, we need to recite the Surah-Qiraat in the middle of the prayer, understanding its meaning. Therefore, we can take the month of Ramadan as an opportunity to acquire and spread Islamic education. In fact, ending ignorance is an important demand of fasting.

Narrated from Abu HurairahThe Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever does not refrain from lying and acting in accordance with it, then there is no need for Allaah to forbid him from eating and drinking. Sahih Bukhari 6056

It is clear from the hadith that if ignorance is not avoided, then fasting becomes insignificant to Allah. And stupidity can be abandoned only through education.
