Virtues of Reciting La Ilaha Illallah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Lahul Mulku

Hadith No. 1

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA):

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “La- ila-ha illall-hu wahdahu la- shariqa lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu wahua ‘ala- kulli shayyin qadir.” That is – ‘There is no god but Allah; He is unique, He has no partner; He is the kingdom, He is all the praise, He is powerful over all things’. – A person who recites this Dua a hundred times a day gets the merit of freeing ten slaves, a hundred good deeds are written (in the ‘Amalnama), and a hundred sins are expiated from him.

And it became a protector for him from Satan (his evil counsel) until that afternoon! No one will be more virtuous than what he achieved that day! But if someone does more ‘Amal than him, it is different. And that person “subha-nall-hi wabi Hamdihi” a hundred times a day! That is to say – ‘I describe his transformation with all praise to Allah’, all his sins will be forgiven, if they are as much as the foam of the sea.

Sahih Muslim: 6735

Hadith No. 2

Narrated Amr ibn Maimun (RA):

The person who says ten times “La- ila-ha illall-hu wahdahu la- shariqa lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu wahua ‘ala- kulli shayyin qadir.” That is – ‘Indeed there is no god but Allah, He is unique, He has no partner, He is the kingdom, He is all the praise, He is the All-Powerful over all things’ he will recite as if he was from the progeny of Isma’eel (‘A). He freed the four slaves.

Sahih Muslim: 6737

Hadith No. 3

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA):

He said once Abu Dharr (RA) said, O Messenger of Allah! The rich are becoming pioneers in reward. As we pray, they pray, and as we fast, they fast. But they donate their surplus wealth to charity. We don’t have enough wealth (for charity). Rasulullah (may peace be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr! Shall I not teach you two sentences which by recitation will make you equal to those who are ahead of you and those behind you will not be able to surpass you?

But he who acts like you is different. He said, yes, sure. He said: After every Salat you will say ‘Allahu Akbar’ thirty-three times, ‘Alhamdu Lillah’ thirty-three times, ‘Subhanallah’ thirty-three times, and finally once “La Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Lahul Mulku Wa Lahul Hamdu Wa Huwa Ala Kulli Shai In Qadir”. If one recites this dua, his sins will be forgiven even if they are as much as the foam of the sea. Sahih: But: “Whoever recites this dua, his sins will be forgiven even if they are as much as the foam of the ocean.” This word of his is Mudraj.

Sunan Abu Dawud: 1504

He is One, He has no partners; He is the kingdom, and He is the praise, and He is the Most Powerful over all things.).

For him, this Dua will be equivalent to freeing a servant from the tribe of Isma’il, and ten rewards will be recorded for him, and ten sins will be forgiven. His status will be increased ten times, and he will be protected from Satan (until evening). will be And if that person recites this dua in the evening, he will receive the same reward and status until he wakes up again in the morning!

Hadith No. 5

On the authority of Mughira Ibn Shu’bah (RA):

Mu’awiyah (RA) wrote a letter to Mughirah Ibn Shu’bah to find out what du’a the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to recite after returning the salam. Then Mughirah (RA) wrote a reply to the letter to Mu’Abiah (RA) that Rasulullah (SAW) used to say “La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la Sharika lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu wahua ‘ala kulli shayin qadir. Allahumma la mani’a lima a’twayta wala mu’twi’a lima mana’ta wala yanfa’u jal jaddu minkal jad.”

Sunan Abu Dawud: 1505

Hadith No. 6

On the authority of Abu Saeed and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them):

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When a person says “La-ila-ha illallahu wallahu akbar” then his Lord approves his words as true. And says: There is no god but Me, I am the Greatest. And when the servant says, “La Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu” (There is no god but Allah, He is One), he says: There is no god but Me and I am One. When the servant says, “La Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu La Sharika lahu” (There is no god but Allah, He is One, He has no partner), Allah says: There is no god but Me, I am One. I have no partner.

When the servant says, “La Ilaha Illallahu Lahul Mulku Wa Lahul Hamdu” (There is no god but Allah, to Him belongs the kingdom, to Him is all praise), then Allah says: There is no god but Me. The kingdom is mine and all praise is mine. When the slave says, “La Ilaha Illallahu Wa La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah” (There is no god but Allah Ta’ala. No one has the power to harm or do good except Allah Ta’ala). Then Allah Ta’ala said: There is no god but Me. No one can remove evil and gain good without Me (without my help). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also used to say: Whoever recites these verses while sick, then dies, the fire of Hell will not consume him. Sahih: Ibn Majah (Hah 3794).

Jame’ at-Tirmidhi: 3430
