The importance of the month of Ramadan

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim; The importance of the month of Ramadan: Muslims rejoice at the arrival of the month of Ramadan. Expressing joy is natural spontaneity. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning) :

Say:  It is by the grace of Allah and His mercy; So let them rejoice in it. It is better than what they save.

— Surah Yunus: 57

This grace of Allah can not be compared with any worldly wealth,  it will be a kind of unrealistic fantasy.

It is our duty to try to evaluate this grace of Allah,  this month, seeking to understand the significance of Virtue and the welfare of all, including worship, and remain engaged.

The virtues and importance of the month of Ramadan that have been described in the Qur’an and Hadith are:

1. Ramadan is a blessed month

2. The doors of mercy are opened when the month of Ramadan arrives

3. The gates of heaven are opened when the month of Ramadan arrives

4. The gates of Jannat are opened and the gates of Jahannam have opened gates of closed when the month of Ramadan arrives

5. Satan is bound when the month of Ramadan arrives

6. The dignity of obligatory fasting when the month of Ramadan arrives

7. Ramadan is the month of the revelation of the Qur’an

8. Laylat al-Qadr is in the month of Ramadan

9. The month of Ramadan is the month of accepting prayers

10. Ramadan is a month of forgiveness from sins

11. The month of Ramadan is the month of liberation from hell

12. When the month of Ramadan arrives Ramadan is a month of patience and perseverance

13. Ramadan is a month of patience and perseverance

One. Ramadan is a blessed month

Narrated by Abu Hurairah. He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Ramadan has come to you, which is a blessed month. Allah has made fasting obligatory for you this month. When the month of Ramadan arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed,  and the shackles of the disobedient devils of Allah are put around their necks. There is a night in this month which is better than a thousand months. The person who was deprived of the welfare of that night remained the real deprived.

— Sunan An Nasai Hadith No. 2110

Two. The door of mercy is opened when the month of Ramadan arrives

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: When the month of Ramadan arrives, the gates of mercy are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are bound.

— Sahih Muslim: 236

Three. The gates of heaven are opened when the month of Ramadan arrives

Narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed during the month of Ramadaan. and The devils are chained.

— Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1899

Four. When the month of Ramadan arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The gates of Paradise are actually opened during the month of Ramadaan. The gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained.

— Sahih Muslim 2375

Five. Satan is bound when the month of Ramadan arrives

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are bound.

— Sunan An Nasai: 2096

Therefore, the devil could not go to all the places where he used to roam freely before Ramadan. Satan’s activities are weakened. As a result, it is widely seen that people move towards repentance,  piety,  and good deeds and stay away from wickedness. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Because they have been greatly influenced by Satan’s evil influence.

Six. The dignity of obligatory fasting when the month of Ramadan arrives

This month is associated with an important pillar of Islam. And that is fasting.  Just as Hajj is associated with the month of Jilhaj, so does the month of Ramadan. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become righteous.

— Surah Al-Baqara: 183

The Prophet (SM) said: Fasting is one of the five pillars on which Islam is founded. A fast is a means of gaining Paradise; As is tradition: to believe in Allah and His Messenger, the prayer was established,  and pay the alms, and, fasting month of Ramadan began,  Allah, he ought to be admitted to Paradise.

— Sahih Bukhari: 6423

Seven. Ramadan is the month of the revelation of the Quran

Allah Almighty says: In the month of Ramadan, the  Qur’an has been revealed in it, which is a guide for mankind and a clear sign and a distinguisher of truth.

— Surah Al-Baqara: 185

In the month of Ramadan, the Holy Quran has been revealed at once from Lohe Mahfuz in the seventh heaven to Baitul Izzat in the sky of the world. From there it began to be revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) little by little in the month of Ramadaan. Both episodes of the revelation of the Qur’an have blessed the month of Ramadan. Not only the Qur’an but also all the divine books including the Sahifa, Torah, Psalms, and  Injil of Ibrahim A. have been revealed in this month in a Sahih Hadith narrated by Tabarani.

In this month, just as the guidance and enlightenment of the people have been revealed, fasting has come at the mercy of Allah. Therefore, one should recite the Qur’an more and more to give thanks for these two blessings. Every year in the month of Ramadan, Jibreel used to recite the complete Qur’an to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Prophet (peace be upon him) also recited the complete Qur’an to him. And in the last Ramadan of his life, the Messenger of Allah recited the complete Qur’an twice. This is provided in the hadith of Sahih Muslim.

Eight. Laylat al-Qadr is in the month of Ramadan

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. That night the angels and the spirits came down with the permission of their Lord in all matters. Peace is peace,  until the dawn of that night.

— Surah Al-Qadr: 3-5

Nine. The month of Ramadan is the month of accepting prayers

The Prophet (SM) said: Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, frees many people every night and day of Ramadan, and every night and day the prayers of Muslims are accepted. Therefore, every Muslim should take this opportunity to pray for his own welfare,  just as he will pray to Almighty Allah for the welfare,  peace, and security of all Muslims.

— Majmu Muallafatul Albani: 1002

Ten. Ramadan is a month of forgiveness from sins

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rebuked the person who was deprived of forgiveness for his sins even after the month of Ramadaan. He said: May the nose of the person who has passed the month of Ramadan and his sins have not been forgiven be gray in the dust.

— Rasul of Jameul Usul Fi Ahadisi: 1410

Truly, he was deprived of all the benefits that he was deprived of the grace of Allah Almighty even in this month.

Eleven. The month of Ramadan is the month of liberation from hell

The Prophet (SM) said: When the first night of Ramadaan arrives, the Shaytaan and the evil spirits are taken, prisoner. The gates of hell are closed,  not a single door is opened when the month of Ramadan arrives. The gates of Paradise are opened,  but not closed this month. Every night a herald announces that O seeker of evil, stop! Every night of this month, Allah saves many people from Hell.

 — As Sunan As Sugra: 1429

Twelve. When the month of Ramadan arrives, the reward for good deeds is multiplied

As is a tradition,  When the month of Ramadan comes, performing Umrah brings the reward of a Hajj. Not only that but,  the month of Ramadan Umrah Hajj with the Messenger of Allah, is the status of the recovery. Thus the reward for all good deeds, including all acts of worship, is multiplied several times.

Thirteen. Ramadan is a month of patience and perseverance

This month, the believers practice so much patience and forbearance in eating, drinking, marriage, and all other rituals that they do not do it in any other month or in any other period. Allah Almighty says: The patient will be rewarded without it.

— Surah Jumar: 10

May Allah Ta’ala grant us the Tawfiq to understand the issues properly and to gain the virtues of Ramadan. Allahumma Amin.
