Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum Dua meaning and benefits

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (R.A.) said, “On the day of the Battle of Badr, I fought for a while and saw that the Prophet (SAW) was prostrate and only saying-

Pronunciation: Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum

Meaning: Oh Chiranjeevi! O Everlasting One

Not saying anything more.’ Then Ali (ra) left to fight again. came back again; Come and see – Nabi saw is in the same condition. He came this way several times and found himself in the same situation. Then Allah Taala gave victory to the Prophet (PBUH). (Imam Haysami, Majmawz Ghawaid, Hadith: 10/147; Imam Haysami (RA) said, the chain of the hadith is Hasan).

Anas bin Malik (RA) narrated that whenever a difficult task came before Rasulullah (SAW), he recited the following supplication. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3524)

Pronunciation : ya hayyu ya qayyum birahmatika astaghees.

Meaning: O Everlasting, O Everlasting! I seek help by your mercy.

Narrated by Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban and Hakim on the authority of Anas (RA). He was once sitting in the Majlis of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). A person prayed and after the prayer he made dua-

Meaning: O Allah! I am praying to you. For You alone are worthy of praise. There is no god but You. You are Hannan and Mannan (Kind and Giver). You are the creator of the heavens and the earth. O possessor of excellence and mercy. O Eternal One; O ruler of the universe.

Hearing this dua, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “This person has made dua in the name of Allah Ta’ala through Azam.” By which dua is accepted and some supplication is granted.

Jame’ Tirmidhi, Dua Chapter, Hadith: 3544. Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitabus Salat, Hadith: 1495.
