The prayer of Tahajjud is Muakkadah in the Sunnah. This is proved by the consensus of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the Ummah. Regarding the virtues of the servants of Allah, the Most Gracious,
And those who spend the night in prostration and standing for their Lord.
Surah Al-Furqan, verse: 74
Elsewhere, he discusses the merits of the pious,
They slept a small part of the night, and in the last hours of the night, they would apologize.
Surah Az-Zariyat, verses 16-18
He said elsewhere,
They recite the verses of Allah at night and they prostrate.
Surah Ale Imran, verse: 113
He added,
And apologizing for last night.
Surah Ale Imran, verse: 17
The night prayer is more important to Allah, so He said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):
O sheets! Stand in the night prayer without any part. Half of the night or a little less. Or raise a little more than that. And recite the Qur’an slowly and clearly.
Surah Al-Muzammil, verses: 1-4
He added,
And perform Tahajjud in some parts of the night as an additional duty of Ta’imah. Hopefully, your Lord will establish you in a praiseworthy position.
Surah Al-Isra, verse: 79
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself encouraged the night prayer and said,
The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer.
