Sunnah of eid ul Adha & eid ul Fitr in Islam
Sunnah of eid day
1. Recitation of Takbeer
On the night of the two Eids, it is better for Muslims to recite the takbeer in the mosque, at home and on the road, whether on a journey or at home. The word of God,
ويشكروا الله على ما هداكم
And glorify Allah for the guidance He has shown you.
Surah Baqara 165
The beginning of the takbeer of Eid-ul-Fitr
The recitation of takbeer will start on the night of Eid-ul-Fitr, i.e. the sighting of the moon in the month of Shawwal or after sunset on the 30th of Ramadan. This is the perfect view of the Shafi’i and Hanbali schools. This is also the view of Imam Bagwi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Baz, and Ibn Uthaymeen. The Standing Committee on Fatwas has also issued a fatwa.
The takbeer of Eid-ul-Fitr is over
The scholars have differed on this point:
Like 1st: When the Imam is present for the Eid prayer, the utterance of takbeer should be stopped. This is also the view expressed by the Maliki, Hanbali, and Shafi’i schools. Imam Bagwi and Ibn Uthaymeen have given precedence to this view.
2nd opinion: The recitation of takbeer will end with the end of Eid khutba. This is like the perfect Hanbali school. Some of the Shafi’is, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn Ba’ir also have this opinion.
Ruling on determining the takbeer of Eid-ul-Fitr after the prayer
The recitation of takbeer is not limited to the moment after the Maghrib and Isha prayers on the night of Eid and the moment after the Eid prayers. This is like the perfect Hanbali school. This is the correct fatwa for most Shafi’i followers. Imam Nawabi, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Uthaymeen. That is what you have accepted.
Eid-ul-Azha takbeer
From 9 Zilhaj Fajr to 13 Zilhaj Asr, after a total of 23 obligatory prayers, it is obligatory to say Tashrik once in takbeer, that is, ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallahu wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahil Hamd’. Those who are not engaged in Hajj will recite Takbeer according to this rule. But those who are performing Hajj will start takbeer from Fajr prayer on the day of Eid. Because before that they will be busy in Talbiya lessons.
Words of Eid Takbir
Two views have been noted in this regard.
As with the first, it is best to read the following words –
الله أكبر الله أكبر، لا إله إلا الله ، والله أكبر الله أكبر، ولله الحمد
Pronunciation: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil hamd.
Meaning: Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, all praise is due to Allah.
Allahu Akbar will repeat the sentence twice, as the Hanbali Madhhab Siddha Amal. Ibn Taymiyyah said. That is what you have accepted. Or say it three times. In short, all are valid and good approaches. This is Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen. Its opinion.
Secondly, on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, there is no definite word for the utterance of takbeer; Rather, he will continue to declare the greatness of Allah in the usual way. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “So that you may complete the reckoning, and glorify Allaah for giving you guidance, so that you may be grateful.”
Surah Baqara – 185
Imam Ahmad and Malik Rah. Who has accepted this opinion?
Provision for giving takbeer loudly and softly
It is Sunnat for men to say takbeer aloud after leaving the house for the purpose of Eidgah. This is the opinion of most of the ulama of Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali schools. It is like one of Imam Abu Hanifa, like Muhammad, Abu Yusuf, and Imam Tahabi. Liked it.
Provision for giving combined takbeer
Pronouncing the combined takbeer is a bidat. The Maliki masses have clearly described it. And this is Shatabi Rah. Like this. So is the fatwa of the Standing Committee on Fatwas. Sheikh Ibn Baz, Albani, and Ibn Uthaymeen. Agreed with them.
Sunnah of eid day
2. Bathing and decorating
Imam Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) in the chapter on Eid and its preparations. Ibn Qudaamah said: It proves that it was common for them to be adorned in all these matters, and Ibn ‘Umar used to wear his most beautiful garment on Eid. Malik said, “I have heard from the scholars that they like to be fragrant and well-groomed on every Eid, and it has been mentioned about bathing that Ibn ‘Umar used to take a bath on every Eid-ul-Fitr before going to the Eid-ul-Fitr.”
3. Using perfume
According to the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali sects, it is Sunnah for men to use perfume before going out to the Eidgah.

4. Regarding taking food on the day of Eid
A. Anas bin Malik said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr (Eidgah) until he had eaten some dates.
Bukhari Tao, Ha 953, Muslim, Mishkat Ha. Yes 1433
B. Narrated from Buraida r, he said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr (Eidgah) without eating anything, and he would not eat or drink until the day of Eid al-Adha.
Ahmad, Masha, H / 22974, Tirmidhi, H / 542
Therefore, this proves that he always ate something before the prayer on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr and ate and drank till the time of sacrifice on the day of Eid-ul-Azhar. So that the first thing to eat on that day is the meat of the sacrifice.
5. Going in the morning
The Muqtada are circumcised for this, going out for the purpose of Eidgah immediately after Fajr (without delay). As Shafi’i and Hanbali have clearly stated.
6. Delaying the Imam until the time is up
It is mustahabb for the Imam to be late until the time for the Eid prayer so that he can go and perform the Eid prayer with the people. Shafi’i, the Humble has made it clear. And Imam Malik has clearly stated this opinion.
7. Going to the women’s Eidgah
It is narrated on the authority of Umm Atiyah that women go to the Eidgah. And will be present for the welfare and prayers of the Muslims.
Bukhari Tao, H / 981 and Muslim
8. Walking to Eidgah
Three Marfu hadiths about walking to the Eidgah have been narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him); But all of them are weak hadiths; As Hafiz, Ibn Hazar has said. And a quote from Ali has been mentioned? It is Sunnat to walk on Eid. Imam Tirmidhi said that most of the scholars have acted on this hadith; They consider it mustahabb to walk to the Eidgah and eat something before going out (for the purpose of Eidgah on Eid-ul-Fitr).
Sunnah of eid day
9. Eid Mubarak
Narrated from Zubayr bin Nufayr, he said,
When the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) met each other on the day of Eid, they would tell each other; Takabbalallahu Minna wa mika means may Allah accept (good deeds) from us and you.
It is important to know that it is a bidat to hug at the end of the Eid prayer; This is because it is not proven by the Prophet (peace be upon him) or his Companions.
10. To change the way of travel to Eidgah
Narrated from Jabir (RA),
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to change the route on the day of Eid (travel) (he used to go to the Eidgah by one road and return home by another road.
Bukhari Tao, H / 98, Mishkat HA. H / 1434
11. Visiting graves
Newly discovered innovation to specify grave visit only with Eid day; Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Baz, Albani, and Ibn Uthaymeen. Provided so; The Standing Committee on Fatwas has also issued fatwas accordingly.
May Allah Ta’ala grant us the Tawfiq to understand and act properly. Allahumma Amin.
