The arrival of Imam Mahdi in Sahih Hadith
Narrated by Abu Saeed Al Khudri (RA)
He said, “We were afraid that something new would happen after our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).” So we asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about this. He said: The Mahdi will come among my ummah, he will live for five or seven or nine years (Zaid is in doubt as to which number the narrator has mentioned). The narrator said we asked, what does this number mean? He said: Year. People will come to him and say, O Mahdi! Give me something, give me something. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, Then he will give him as much as he can carry in his clothes or bag.

The hadith is Hasan
Narrated by Abu Saeed Al-Khudri
He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The Mahdi will come from my lineage, he will have a wide forehead and a well-developed nose. He will fill it with justice, just as the world will then be filled with oppression, and he will rule for seven years.
Sunan Abu Dawood 4275.
The hadith is Hasan
Narrated by Abu Saeed Al Khudri
He said, “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘The Mahdi will come from my Ummah.’ He will remain in the world for at least seven years otherwise nine years. In his time, my ummah will have an unwanted abundance like never before. The earth will produce enough for all its food and nothing will stop it. Wealth will accumulate. People will stand up and say, O Mahdi, give me. He will say, take as much as you need.
Sunan Ibn Majah 4063, Tirmidhi 2232, Abu Dawood 4275, Raudun Nadir 848.
The hadith is Hasan
Narrated by Ali (R)
He said that the Prophet (SM) said, The Mahdi will be from our Ahl al-Bayt. Allaah will make him worthy of the Khilafah in one night.
Sunan Ibn Majah 4065, Ahmad 648, Sahihah 2371, Raudun Nadir 2/53.
The hadith is Hasan
Narrated from Umm Salamah
He said I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: The Mahdi will come from my family to the descendants of Fatima’s children.
Sunan Abu Daud 4264.
The hadith is Saheeh
From the five hadiths I have mentioned about Imam Mahdi, eight things become clear to us.
1. The arrival of the Mahdi will take place in the midst of the Ummah.
2. He will have a wide forehead and a well-developed nose.
3. He will appear from the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and from the descendants of the children of Fatima.
4. The world will be filled with oppression.
5. Allaah will make him worthy of the Khilafah in one night.
6. He will do justice to her.
7. In his time, the ummah will have an unwanted abundance like never before. The earth will produce enough for all its food resources and nothing will stop it. Wealth will accumulate. People will stand up and say, O Mahdi, give me. He will say, take as much as you need.
8. He will rule for 5 or 6 or 9 years.
There is nothing clear in the Qur’an or Hadith about when Imam Mahdi will come. However, it is clear from the hadith that the arrival of Imam Mahdi will take place when the world is filled with oppression.
Today we see that the world is full of oppression and fitna. And the caliphate of the Muslims has been destroyed. Muslims today are leaderless. That is why we Muslims today are oppressed, oppressed, persecuted, oppressed. Because we Muslims do not have an emir or caliph, we Muslims today are divided into groups. In this situation, we feel that the arrival of Imam Mahdi is very important among us. But it is not clear whether the arrival of Imam Mahdi will be as bad as our current situation. Maybe the arrival of Imam Mahdi will happen after a more terrible situation.
The signs of the Hour are of two kinds.
One is a small sign and the other is a big sign. Small signs will appear first and big signs will appear later. Among the minor signs, the arrival of Imam Mahdi will take place last and the rest will take place first. Of the rest, there are some that have happened often. Maybe the rest will happen very soon. Again, it may take a long time. So the arrival of Imam Mahdi may be too late.
Depending on our circumstances, we can say that the arrival of Imam Mahdi may happen very soon. The arrival of Imam Mahdi can happen at any time. But we do not know when. God knows best.
So it is not our job to determine the date or year.
We cannot say that the arrival of Imam Mahdi will take place at this time. He will send the Mahdi only when Allah wills. And only he knows that. When Imam Mahdi will come is not the main issue, the main issue is that we have to obey him when he appears. He should not wait for this to come. We have some responsibilities before his arrival. Understand them and then fulfill the responsibilities. We will discuss another time before the arrival of Imam Mahdi, InshaAllah. Allah, grant us the tawfiq to understand and act on things properly, Allahumma Amin.
